This project uses semantic data management and virtual reality to enhance the exploration of cultural heritage, focusing on Trier’s late-antique sites. By integrating a knowledge graph with WebGIS and a dynamic 3D city model, it allows intuitive access to archaeological data and interactive historical reconstructions.

Summary

This project leverages advanced data management and semantic technologies to enhance the preservation and exploration of cultural heritage, focusing on the late-antique city of Trier. By developing a knowledge graph linked with WebGIS and a flexible, user-friendly virtual city model, the project allows intuitive exploration of archaeological data through semantic and geographic relationships. Using standardized data structures based on the CIDOC-CRM ontology, it integrates diverse data types, including 3D models, maps, and historical documentation. The virtual city model, implemented with the Unity engine, offers a customizable 3D representation of historical sites, supporting dynamic updates and flexible user interactions for researchers and the public.
